If your PSP lives and you're itching for more Metal Gear I'd recommend Portable Ops. Short missions, but they play like any other MGS game, and there's a bit of pokémon-esque gameplay there with capturing soldiers and forming squads and whatnot.
Likewise, if your DS lives you could try out the FFIV remake, it's really neat and it plays nicely because levelling up isn't a pain in the ass. Also for short (or not so short breaks) and if you miss rhythm games, try Rhythm Tengoku Gold. You'll -love- that one.
